Ah, the powder room. That whimsical, showoff of a bathroom. Unless of course, the fixtures and vanity are dated and tiresome. Here's our experience in remodeling our powder room. It's so much better saying, "Yes!" we have a bathroom right down the hall when a guest asks for one.
When we moved into our place, the one area that we really wanted to re-do was the powder room. The small bathroom was covered in stones but wasn't completed nicely, everything just seemed scattered. The old vanity was also chipped and definitely needed a refresh.
Our budget wasn't huge as it was one of the last projects we had to complete before moving day. Our trusted friend and professional painter Brad, actually removed all the stones and filled in the dents when he painted the bathroom. He painted it "oxford white" like the rest of our place to provide an allusion that the rooms are bigger than they actually are.
We had contemplated keeping the old vanity but in the end, we shopped around and found this simple but clean looking vanity at Home Depot. It was tough to find a vanity that would fit perfectly in the small closure.
Lastly, we added a couple of accessories to spruce it up even more. We hung framed photos that my dad took on a family vacation to Tofino and added a simple white flower in a vase. We provided little luxuries through our bathroom like Fairmont towels. A small tip, anything a visitor needs from hand towels to extra toilet tissue should be in plain sight. Always have a wonderful candle on hand and the next time someone asks to use our bathroom we tell them yes, without hesitation.
These simple updates can make a huge difference in your home. It not only adds value but also lets you just enjoy every space so much more.
