Easy Açai Bowl

Ah, the latest food trend. I'm sure you've seen these colourful bowls all over social media. I recently tried one at the good press in Yorkville. Surprised by how much I enjoyed it, I decided to save some precious pennies and make one at home. These bowls are so thick and you can top them with many delicious goodies. Açai is a berry grown in Brazil and it's often fairly expensive to buy in grocery stores. I found the most affordable bag here

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet or teaspoon of açai powder
  • 2 handfuls of fresh spinach
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of hemp hearts
  • 1/2 cup of frozen mango
  • A dash of cinnamon
  • 1 kiwi
  • A handful of coconut chips
  • A tablespoon of granola

Directions:

  1. Add all the ingredients except 1/2 of the banana, 1/2 of the kiwi, coconut chips, granola and half of the hemp hearts to a blender (texture should be fairly think, you can add more coconut milk if you wish to thicken it further)
  2. Sprinkle and place the remaining on top of the bowl
